Level 5 NZ Diploma of Christian Studies

For more information about the Christian Leadership strand of the NZDipCS (Level 5), please read this page.

In 2020, we will have a cohort of students based in Wellington completing the New Zealand Diploma of Christian Studies (Christian Leadership) through Bishopdale College’s partnership with Laidlaw College. Students will participate in classes through video-conferencing three weeks of each month, and travel to Nelson for classes once a month. Nelson trips will be timed to coincide with regular Bishopdale College community events - students are usually required to be in Nelson for two days.

LEVEL 6 DIPLOMA OF CHRISTIAN STUDIES (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)

Bishopdale College is partnering with the Anglican Diocese of Wellington to develop a Level 6 Diploma of Christian Studies. It is anticipated that this will run on a three-year part-time basis. Each year students will complete two courses at Level 6 (one per semester), as well as gaining credit for practical ministry experience and reflection. This qualification is still under development, and approval to deliver will be sought from NZQA in early 2020.

We anticipate that the Level 6 Diploma of Christian Studies will be structured as follows:

  • 45 credits of biblical studies

  • 15 credits of theology courses

  • 60 credits of pastoral, missional and contextual courses, including 30 credits of reflective practice

In 2020, students intending to enrol in the Level 6 DipCS will initially enrol for two courses as ‘Certificate of Proficiency’ students through Bishopdale College’s partnership with Laidlaw College. Students will be ineligible for Studylink funding. The goal will be to cross-credit these courses into the Level 6 DipCS once approval is received from NZQA.

Classes will be run in the Wellington region, usually involving two weekend intensives, and a small number of evening sessions.
