Bishopdale College, in partnership with Laidlaw College, are offering Introduction to Biblical Greek 1 in Summer Semester 2023-2024, followed by Introduction to Biblical Greek 2 in Semester 1 2024.
These accredited courses are ideal for undergraduate students who want to get ahead with Greek, for master’s students who missed out on doing one of the Biblical languages and now need it, and for those who simply want to learn to how to study the Scriptures with greater depth and understanding.
You will learn to read the text, understand Greek vocabulary and grammar, and develop your skills in how to faithfully read and interpret the text of the New Testament.
Summer Semester:
108.515 Introduction to Biblical Greek 1
Intensive classes: 27 November - 1 December 2023.
Weekly Zoom tutorials until 16 Feb (time to be arranged to suit students), with a 5 week Christmas break.
Semester 1 2024:
109.515 Introduction to Biblical Greek 2
Intensive class dates TBC, with weekly Zoom tutorials at a time to suit students.

CURRICULUM
The curriculum is designed to equip students with an understanding of the grammar and vocabulary of Biblical (Koine) Greek, and its application in translation and exegesis, including reading, vocabulary, understanding grammatical significance, translation from Greek to English, and use of scholarly translation and interpretation resources.
The course structure follows the content of the required textbook:
Duff, Jeremy. The Elements of New Testament Greek. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2005.
NOTES ABOUT THE INTENSIVE
Students are strongly encouraged to attend the intensive in Nelson in person if they are able to do so. Bishopdale College can assist with finding accommodation - either with a member of the College community, or in local accommodation options.
Intensives are just that - intensive! You should plan to spend your morning in class, and your afternoon revising and completing set homework, from Monday-Friday.
